A project funded by JISC as part of the HE in FE programme.
Context
HE programmes increasingly require the skills and learning developed in the workplace to be documented and validated so as to complement college-based study and assessment. According to the Introduction to the JISC report 'About e-Portfolios: an overview of JISC activities' 'An important aspect of lifelong learning is the learners' ability to assemble, demonstrate and reflect on the skills, knowledge and achievement they have built up during their unique learning journeys. One of the functions of electronic portfolios (e-portfolios) is to support this kind of activity.'
To assist the HE in FE community with implementation choices in the future this project aims to explore four ways in which the lifelong learner can be supported in their use of e-portfolios and PDP systems as part of their unique learning journey as an HE student at an FE college.
The projects will all be piloting existing technologies.
